St Elizabeth (1207-1231), born in Hungary and married to the Landgrave (Baron?) of Marburg was obviously an important saint in Marburg. She was canonised for her charity and for the healing miracles that were reputed to have occurred at her graveside.
Everywhere here there are references to St Elizabeth: the Elizabeth church, St Elizabeth's well, Elizabeth-trappe, and the Milk stone from where it is believed she fed bread and milk to the poor - completely surrounded in trees now.
