The beach at Usedom Island is about 42km long and about 60m wide of lovely white sand which has been refined by the action of the waves but also by the action of ice sheets forming on the Baltic Sea in winter. It drops to at least -20C here in winter.
We were only 3km from the Polish border so could very easily have walked across the border and back. Some of the students had a swim but the air was way to cold for us. So many beautiful expensive villa's right on the beach.
