After at least a 5km detour and 2 stops to check iPhone Maps and a bit of swearing (not from me of course!) we finally got ourselves to a gorgeous little town, Oberrosphe, the oldest town in the area. Then it was at least quarter of an hour to figure out the start of the track from the village up onto Stirnhelle, a 387m hill overlooking the town. We finally figured out the "S" signs painted on the trees and we were off on our 12km walk around the hills, through the Woods and across the farmland surrounding Oberrosphe. The whole area was crisscrossed with tracks and roads and when you looked for a nice private tree, there was another road/track. Perhaps the highlight for Barry was a fox running through the fields.
It intrigues me the big piles of firewood that people are already preparing for next winter - they must have huge fireplaces because the logs seem to be cut in about 1m lengths.
We checked out the Italian restaurant above us for a very nice meal this evening. Tomorrow we are off to Bochum.
